This should hopefully be an easy one. I've poured through admin guides and KB articles but haven't yet been able to find the answer -
When sending SNMP traps to Solarwinds, you are of course asked to provide a community string in the configuration of the device from which you're sending the traps.
My question is - where does one go to setup the community string that this is being validated against?
I do see in the SNMP Trap RECEIVER tool, under Settings -> Community Filter tab where you can check/uncheck "Enable SNMP Community Filtering" - if this is unchecked, does that mean then that the community string being provided on the monitored device is essentially irrelevant?
I'm inclined to think not, because I've tried disabling SNMP community filtering, yet I've still received "SNMPv2-MIB:authenticationFailure"s.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. If anyone can provide some info or point me in the direction of some documentation I would be greatly indebted.
Thanks guys!
