This may be a simple request (I hope so), but if not I guess it might have to go in as a feature request.
When monitoring a large number of edge switches, we just select all ports on the switch, whether they're active or not. This is because it's a pain to go back into 'list resources' for each switch and re-select/disable ports as connections appear/disappear. What this also means though is that we constantly have the red flashing blob on all switches saying ports are down (as they're edge, i.e. user ports, this doesn't really concern me though). Not a huge issue, but annoying none the less.
What I'd like to be able to do when I manage a switch is essentially say, monitor these ports I've selected, but if one of them goes operationally down, log an event, but don't show me the flashing red blob. Likewise, if a port goes operationally 'up', then automatically start monitoring the port for stats. As I've already selected all ports on the switch anyway, my licensing shouldn't be affected.
What I'd also like to be able to do on a switch is to have selective control over this for critical ports (i.e. uplinks). If they go operationally down, I do want an event and for the switch object in NPM to flash so I'm actually made aware of a much bigger potential problem.
Can I do this now, or is this impossible?
