Can I start monitoring an interface only after it comes up the first time?

(New to NPM, apologies in advance)

I have a port-channel that I have set up, awaiting installation of the physical server by the systems team.  Right now, NPM is complaining that the interface is down, and it is, but I don't care.  I will start caring once the server is plugged in the first time, but that's going to be done on their schedule, not mine.

I'm looking for ideas on how to handle it. I have a couple ideas, but I'm not sure how to go about them:

1) If I could 'acknowledge' the interface as being down, maybe it would stop listing that it's a problem?  If so, I don't know how to do this.

2) I could change the interface to 'unpluggable', but then I need to remember go back in and change it once the server is installed (which they may not even tell me).

3) Is there some other way?  If I remove the interface from monitoring, will it get discovered when they plug it in?  If so, what's the proper process to remove the port from monitoring?

4) I might be able to 'admin down' the interface, but then I need to be involved when they light up the server.

5) I could set it to 'unmanaged', but I don't know the end date.

I'd appreciate any info on what the right method is for an interface that is down, when you're temporarily okay with it being down.

Thanks!
