Is there a UI to disable breadcrumbs yet?

I'm working on upgrading our install of NPM + modules and one of the concerns we've had for many, many years is the security issue with breadcrumbs.

Has there been a UI put in place to disable them or do I still have to go in and manually edit the web.config file every time I update the software?

If there isn't a UI in place, why not given the fact that it's a security issue?
