We have a customer requesting the following two reports (for both Monthly and Weekly time periods):
Top 20 Location Report
-------------------------------
Report contains a table with the following columns -
Location
Node ID
Average transmit (bps)
Average transmit (% util)
Average receive (bps)
Average receive (% util)
Report should be sorted in descending order by Average receive (% util)
Bottom 20 Location Report
-------------------------------
Report contains a table with the following columns -
Location
Node ID
Average transmit (bps)
Average transmit (% util)
Average receive (bps)
Average receive (% util)
Report should be sorted in ascending order by Average receive (% util)
Unfortunately, when we first created the report, the customer deemed the utilization values 'too low' and requested we narrowed down the report time to 'Monday thru Friday and 9AM - 6PM'. We re-ran the reports for this time period and found the values didn't change as expected. I therefore went the route of validating the data for one of the nodes listed at the top of the report. Once selected, I started digging. I'm really concerned about what I found.
For some reason, values I would expect to be variable throughout the report period, were actually constant values. For an updated example that I ran this morning, I ran a report for last week (8/25-8/29) and included the following variables in the report:
Total Bytes Transmitted
Xmit Bandwidth
Xmit Percent Utilization
Total Bytes Recieved
Recv bps
Recv Percent Utilization
From what I can tell, 'Transmit Bandwidth', 'Transmit % Utilization', 'Receive Traffic' and 'Receive % Utilization' are all constant values for this one interface on a node!
Transmit Bandwidth: 512000
Transmit % Utilization: 12 %
Receive Traffic: 81146.31
Receive % Utilization: 16 %
Why are these set values? Wouldn't they be calculated fields based of OID data gathered from the device? I'm a little perplexed.
Thanks!
