The way I understand Orion Polling settings are as follows:
Polling Intervals are ICMP (pings) that go out to a device.
Polling Statistics Intervals are SNMP requests that go out to a device.
I ask this because in an effort to reduce the load on my polling engine I have changed the "Default Interface Poll Interval" and "Default Volume Poll Interval" to 10000 seconds. I did this because I am unsure of how NPM would be able to send an ICMP to either an interface or a volume. I have had this running for about a week now and I have not noticed anything abnormal and devices still seem to be reporting up/down status. I am however worried that I don't understand what is meant by "Interface Poll Interval" and "Volume Poll Interval" and I don't want to have this setting come back to bite me later on. I would like some insight regarding those polling intervals.
Thanks!
