The Solarwinds server running Orion Platform 2014.1.0, SAM 6.1.0, IPAM 4.0, NCM 7.2, NPM 10.7, UDT 3.0.2, and IVIM 1.9.0. So far, it has been used mostly for Cisco network device management. We have made extensive use of NPM and some use of IPAM and NCM. There has been limited use of SAM and no use of UDT. I don’t even know what IVIM is. We currently have 476 nodes, 3043 Interfaces, and 974 volumes in NPM. The Solarwinds server is a VM running Windows 2003, and uses an SQL Server 2005 instance on another VM that is also Windows 2003. We also have Solarwinds Patch Manager and Solarwinds Storage Manager, but these are on separate servers and not currently integrated in any way with NPM
Recent questions I have had working on Solarwinds
- Why is our web interface performance so bad?
- Practical way to automatically add windows nodes? Excluding virtual adapters?
- Practical way to exclude selected systems from node up/down alerts – hostname? OS edition?
- Practical way to manage exceptions to general alert for disk space (or for pages/sec, or for….)
- How to sequence upgrade of our Solarwinds. Migrate to updated DB server first, or update Solarwinds software first? Order of updates for Solarwinds software?
