What drives your NOC?

Hello all,

I am working on redesigning our company's NOC, which gives me a good opportunity to toss out some of the things we have tried in the past that didn't pan out, and implement things that work better.  Historically we've just had a few ancient desktop towers running Linux (and in one case a Raspberry Pi) hooked up to their own screens throughout our department.  The problem with these is that they are often underpowered (especially the Pi which struggles with the new NOC view feature of NPM) and the Linux OS offers its own hurdles in terms of seamlessly authenticating with Orion.

Our situation going forward is to have a main NOC area that has multiple screens, and then others in other areas that are single screen implementations.  As much as I love the tiny form factor of things like a Raspberry Pi it seems like more horsepower is required, and running Windows certainly makes life a little easier.  At the same time, buying a full tower for each NOC area seems excessive, but it would seem a better trade off than a small form factor that is sluggish.

In the same vein, can anyone share what they use for their NOC, what works, and what doesn't? I can't imagine I'm the first person to stumble down this path, but I struggle to find recent information here on Thwack on the topic.
