Add Cisco Swtich as Node

Hello,

       I have setup NPN and have started to monitor servers.  but i would like to monitor our Cisco switches.  When a switch goes down, i do not want to receive server alerts, just a switch alert.  I am not sure how to go about doing this.  do i just add the server IP address and monitor ICMP as a node? or can i add the cisco switches as SNMP devices?
