I am looking for a way (advance SQL or not) to put together the following into one report per customer:
<Customer> || Node Availability || Interface Availability per Node || Response Time || CPU/memory Load || Average peak and Traffic rates

We are not receiving alert emails after updating from 10.7 to 11.5
The alerts fire in NPM but it doesn't appear to send the email as specified in the alert configuration
I am able to send/receive a test email generated from the Settings > Manage SMTP Servers > Edit popup
Any ideas what might be preventing the alerts from sending the email?
Under the Hardware Details we're getting a message of:
Hardware polling failed: Error 31040 - Timeout
I've tried both the Rediscover and Poll Now buttons. I tried editing the node and testing our community string but it fails. I've removed and readded the SNMP config to the device and it still fails.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this?

UPDATE: OK. The act of actually writing it out solved MOST the question below. Next, how can I find a resource that doesn't show ALL groups (at the same level) and not just "Down" groups either (see pic)
For example, I'd like to add a custom property NetEng to each object (router, switch, interface, etc..) that is appropriate, suggestions?
Original question:
A number have groups have been set up, some static, some dynamic. No real rhyme or reason per se. Many thousands of interfaces, objects already exist.
I would really like to create groups that are nested, such as North America -> US and Canada and Mexico at the next level. Under US -> individual states then cities then servers or hardware in those cities - you get the idea.
I am very much not seeing an easy way to represent this. Maybe I'm thinking "groups" and I should be calling it something else. There are a number of posts and articles on nested groups, but none of them are particularly clear on "how" to do it. "Manage Groups" seem great for creating a bunch of first level groups.
Of course the next obvious questions are getting the many thousands of individual objects into these new groups - but we can save that until after step 1.

I haven't been able to find any documentation on this. We have our main instance of Orion/Solarwinds in California. We have another data center in Arizona. I've installed another instance of NPM in AZ, and we'd like to be able to view everything in AZ from the server in CA. How do I set this up? I think I have to tell the server in AZ that it's just a Polling Engine, but I don't see where that's set. Many thanks!

I need to create an alert with a list of interfaces on the Node that has gone down. I have tried about everything but it's not returning the desired information.
The closest I get is
Node ${NodeName} is down.
Interfaces:
${SQL:Select FullName FROM Interfaces }
This returns the first interface that was created everytime, no matter what node goes down. I need to have the interfaces on the actual down node to show up in the email.
Any help?

Is there anyway to call the specific AlertActiveID as a variable in a trigger action of sending an email of that specific alert?

Hello Solarwinds people. Our NWS background image just quit displaying so we get a red background instead. On the server it's self I can get this http://radar.weather.gov/Conus/Loop/NatLoop_Small.gif in IE but in network atlas in the linked background dialog I get this

Sometimes devices show up in Orion as "unknown". Those devices need to be added to our SysObjectID database. We know about lots of them, but we'd like to hear which items you need.
We need:
SysObjectID (which you can find in Node Details) in System Manager.

Also, I really want to capture the interface description. I'm not sure if Caption is the correct parameter for that. Can anyone help?

I want to make an availability report for certain selection of interfaces and hosts
I assume this is easy with good/great SQL query knowledge and in-depth knowledge of Orion.
But sine I´m lacking there I was hoping I could achieve this with what looks to be great wizards.
I need to know if what I want is possible using the wizard. And what steps I might be missing.

Can you make an availability report based on the summary of two interfaces or two hosts.
i.e. if I have a group of two interfaces or hosts, and I need both to go down to generate un-availability. If only one fails then I still have 100%
example:
host1 = 85%
host2 = 90%
host1 & host2 = 100%
interface1 = 99%
interface2= 95%
interf1 & interf2 = 99,9770%
we have the alert where if a node is down it will shoot an email to everyone on the list and once they go back online it will shoot another email to everyone saying its back on. Recently it occasionally will not shoot the email for it going back online or in a group of down alerts it will miss a couple of them. Anyone know why this could be happening?
The built-in report that shows 95th percentile traffic rate - last month works fine, but I manage over 3000 nodes and would like to parse this report to only show WAN Circuits, of which there are about 50. Anyone know how to do this?

I need some help please.
My solarwinds doesn't send me an email when a node goes down and I don't know where to check.
The email is correct. The SMTP relay server is right. We don't block the SMTP port 25 on the solarwind box.
I googled the question and one thread said that this is a bug and I have to wait until the next RFC?

Im trying to implement a map where i can monitor the % utlisation on my internet routers. I cannot use the built in feature on the new version of NPM 10.7 because the internet interfaces do not connect to any device which I monitor (which is normal as these devices' next hops are at my ISPs)
I managed to progress on this front by creating up and down arrow icons and placed them in my user graphics folder of network atlas and then assigned the same interface to an up and to a down arrow and adding labels ${InPercentUtil} to the down arrow and ${OutPercentUtil} to the up arrow.
However, the issue i'm geeting is that these arrows remain green all the time and are red only if the interface is down. I would have liked the arrows to change colour according to percentage utilisation like
<70% Green
70% - 90% Yellow
>90% Red
Is this possible? if yes how? I have attached a screen shot of my map
I see my syslog service crash everyday multiple times. I am running NPM 11.5.2 on a Win 2008 R2 VM. I looked at the event log and found a memory error. I did some digging and found that 32 bit apps can run into this because of the 4GB limit. Any ideas on how to fix or is there a 64 bit version?
