Is there a way to create a tabular view of Netpath measurements

Hello,

 

Netpath has been a good feature from solarwinds but I think the developers should add more reporting features to this. Especially a table view to get a quick glance of all measurements for a particular service from all probes.

Currently, I cannot quickly compare for e.g Mexico Vs India Vs Switzerland for response time to each services. We plan to install approximately 80 probes , one in each country. I have to click each link to see the current average measurement. This would become extremely difficult once we have 80 probes to have a quick glance on the values

Is there a way anyone know to get a tabular view of the measurement.

Hello,

 

I was wondering if there is a way to create a custom report that will tell me what nodes are not in the worldwide map? Would it be possible if this could be done without having to do an Advanced Database Query?

Analyzing the SW Nightly Database Maint Logs

In attempts to better understand the unique components that make up our SLW instance I have started looking at the DB main logs, trying to find ways to optimize our instance.  I have consistently seen what seem to be obvious problems when the DB attempts to consolidate data related to UNDP.  I do have a decent amount of UNDP in the environment, but nothing excessive.  I have also confirmed by retention times of UNDP data to be the following.

 

7,20,65 days retention for detailed, hourly, and daily. 

 

Attached are maint logs where UNDP is referenced, I have left out the rest as it appears normal without error.

I am a relative newbie to Solarwinds. Does anyone know how to set up alerts where it would go off if a node is down 5 minutes during the day, then 15 minutes during the night?

Netflow forwarding - using Orion as a netflow collector and forwarding to other tools

We have an Orion installation that is collecting netflow information from our routers and switches.

 

We also have an installation of Network Instruments Observer with Observer APEX. I would like to forward the collected netflow flows to Observer rather than having Observer collect them again. Part of this is redundancy and duplication, part of it is the way the flows are configured for Observer.

 

Is it possible to forward the flows collected by Orion to Observer?

Can someone explain to me how you configure a Linux server to point to your solar winds NPM machine.

 

I installed snmp through yum but am pretty much stuck from that point.

i found the /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf file but aren't sure what i need to put in this file to make it point to my solar winds server or what lines for that matter.

 

could someone provide some instructions as to how this works.

 

With windows Machines it so easy with WMI but Linux has to use SNMP.

How can I make a report all of Windows and virtual machines devices

'All Groups' resource - possible to filter?

For a specific view, I want to add the 'All Groups' widget, but only display certain groups.


E.g. we have parent groups for applications, firewalls etc. In this instance I only wish to display the top-level applications group, and its contents. I was expecting there to be a way to filter this via SQL, but that option does not seem to exist for this widget, see attached image.


Is there any way to accomplish this?

Before I submit a feature request, has anyone yet tried to get monitoring for Rubrik going?  It's a pretty nice backup and recovery solution, and with great power comes great respon... er, need to monitor.


Alert Administration

We have recently had a few situations where our NOC was flooded with several hundred application alerts.  Because of the large number of alerts they were unable to quickly acknowledge/manage those alerts.  They expressed an overall degraded experience at the time of those large number of alerts.  During those flood of alerts the view they were using was a filtered All Alerts view (not the global All Alerts resource)

I am hoping and assuming that the global Alert resource is better suited in dealing with larger number of alerts where the NOC will not experience the sluggishness that previously occurred.

 

If your wondering why we use the non global alert resource, its because we have a subset of devices that the NOC actively manages, those devices and their alerts are filtered through view customization

 

If I do go the route of the global alert resource I will need to change are existing alerts using the "Team" custom property that is natively existing on the Global All Alert resource.  Otherwise the NOC will be seeing alerts on devices they are not responsible for.

 

 

Has anyone else had issues with alert administration when not using the global resource ?  Has anyone experienced issues when using the "Team" filter associated with the All Alerts global resource ?  Looking forward to your responses, thank you.

Change Detailled Statistics retention for spesific node or groups?is it possible?

Hi Community,

 

I  am using Detailed Statistic Retention settings by default (7Days). But I want to change it for some nodes  or groups. Is it possible?

 

My purpose in this situation; I want to reach my historical data with detailed statistic (for example 1 minutes)  for only spesific nodes or groups.

Exporting NPM Node Properties

I would like to select a few sample nodes from NPM and export all of their properties to be used as a template when adding new nodes. (Or to restore/undo the node after it is removed)

 

The only thing close to that I found was "Export custom property values" after selecting a node under "Manage Nodes":

 

However after expanding the advanced section, several of the available properties are actually node specific statistical data:

 

 

Is there a SWQL query that would yield the type of properties from an existing node which I could use build a "add node" template to be used with CRUD operations.

12.0.1 running out of memory

Anyone else seeing this?

 

I'm seeing the the 'SolarWinds Information Service V3' service balloon in memory usage 8.7GB and runs the server out of memory and everything crashes. Reboot the server and then it happens again, over and over all day long so far today. Last night I applied HotFix 1 for 12.0.1 and ran well over night. When people are in Orion working during the day it does this. Overnight it seems to run just fine when people are not using the system.

 

Where do I even start to troubleshoot this?

 

Running NPM 12.0.1 and SAM 6.3

Server 2012 R2

VM on VMware

12GB RAM

4vCPU

Good afternoon.

 

I have a question with regards to SNMP settings on Unix.  We have a few machines (about 50 or so) that would need their SNMP settings changed.  Is there a way that you can run this as a bath file or something similar?  I have done some searching on here and on an internet based-search engine and not found that much with regards to making to records of SNMP details.

 

Any Linux person(s) have any experience on this?
