Alert me when a component goes down question

$

Hello everyone,

I am very new to SolarWinds.

We get a ton of alerts under the "alert me when a component goes down." The alert lists all the components for a few nodes.

Is there any way to structure this alert so that the alert gives you the node and when selected you can see the many components within it?

I appreciate any help.

NPM 12.3 - Unable to install Additional Polling Engine due to Patch Manager 2.1.5?

Trying to replace an NPM 12.3 additional polling engine.  The primary polling engine was reinstalled last week on a fresh Windows Server 2016 box.  Just finished updating a fresh Windows Server 2016 server for the APE.

I downloaded the poller installer from /Orion/Admin/Details/Engines.aspx.  When I run the installer, the Install Report will not allow me to continue.

DESCRIPTION    The following products on the primary Orion server cannot be installed: PM 2.1.5

RESOLUTION     Update the products on your primary Orion server to the latest versions

PM 2.1.5 is the latest version available to download.  The primary Orion server is running the PM web console only.  The actual PM server is entirely separate.

Cisco ASA as a Default gateway?

There has been over 1 million of Cisco ASAs built and deployed around the world in a past years (good job Cisco!). As not supporting SNMP protocol properly, they often complicate our lives when configured to be Default gateways, not allowing products like SolarWinds User Device Tracker to monitor what's behind. Do you use your ASAs as a Default gateways too? If so, what percentage of your network they route?

When adding new nodes to NPM, do you use Network Sonar or you add your nodes directly?

Weather map -> 9.5

I was wondering if anyone was able to port over the weather map background image to 9.5 yet?  I see with the upgrade of Map maker to Network Atlas the directory structure is different.  We really like the map so before I upgrade I want to see if this is working in 9.5...and if so how?

Thanks.

Custom SQL Query to SNMP Trap

Hi,

I created an Custom SQL alert in NPM and I configured NPM to email me when the alert triggers. Now, I'm trying to configure NPM to send me a SNMP Trap when the alert triggers, but I have no idea how to pass the SQL field values to the SNMP trap so that I can get them in my SNMP Trap receiver.

To get the values using the email method I use something like

${SQL:select Pkid from VoipCallDetailsAlert where ID = ${VoipCallDetailsAlert.ID}}

to get a SQL field value in the email, but I have no idea how to set that in the SNMP Trap template so that I can get that value in the SNMP Trap. How can that be done?

Usually I use stuff like "${N=SwisEntity;M=DisplayName}" in the SNMP Trap template so I can get alert values, but I'm not sure what to do with custom SQL values.

Thank you

NPM 12.3 new install - issue with Proxy Settings - cant revert it back

Hi thwackers,

Has someone faced this issue ?

I installed a fresh copy of NPM 12.3 with the latest hotfix HF3 on MS Azure.

1. Proxy Settings -> Global Proxy Settings was set to 'Use default OS Settings' as part of the default configuration

2. Then one of my team members tried changing it to 'Use the following settings' , gave an proxy ip and port and saved the config.

3. This should be pretty simple but now I cant revert it back to 'Use default OS Settings', when i change it back to this and try saving the config i get a error as mentioned below and it doesn't let me change it back to 'Use default OS Settings'

And now this is a road block for me to integrate SNOW instance with SolarWInds.

Hi aLTeReGo, has someone reported a similar issue, please do let me know if you are aware of it.

Thanks in advance.
