Node is currently down, unreachable or provided credentials are not valid

Hi All, have the above issue.

Background is;

Devices monitored - Cisco Switches ranging from 2960's to 3850's varying IOS levels.

Monitoring is currently fine on all listed devices.

The node is not refreshing, and if I try to list resources I get the error Node is currently down, unreachable or provided credentials are not valid.

All switches are using the same SNMP v3 credentials, however this is only happening on a few random switches.

One stack I removed and tried to re-add still had this issue.

I've tried a warm restart of SNMP on another switch stack, and still have the error.

The only thing that seemed to fix it to re-added the deleted node was a reboot of the orion server.

Unmanaged nodes triggered alerts???

I unmanaged a large group of nodes for a maintenance window. Even though the showed as unmanaged, and went unmanaged an hour before the alerts happened, the alerts still triggered. How does this happen, and how does one prevent this from happening again?

Custom Poller of SNMP MIB and Alert on OID Value

I have setup a custom poller that pulls from the MIB CISCO-CDP-MIB:cdpChacheDeviceId.

Specifically OID: 1.3.6.1.4.9.9.23.1.2.1.1.6

I'm doing to alert on unauthorized devices that plug into the network.

I've added the custom poller to the Node Details, Networks Tab, and it is showing all the devices attached with no issues.

I'm however having problems with the alerts.

I've created an alert with the following information

I want to alert on:

Custom Table Poller Current Status

All objects in my environment

Trigger alert when:

All child conditions must be satisfied  (AND)

Custom Node Poller Unique Name Is equal to cdpCacheDevceId

and

Custom Table Poller Current Status            Current Value        does not start with          SEP

and

Custom Table Poller Current Status            Current Value        does not contain             NRouter

and

Custom Table Poller Current Status            Current Value        does not contain             NSwitch

When entering the values I see lots of SEP##### (cisco Phones) so it looks like it pull from the correct column in the table.

On the summery screen above submit I see This alert would be immediately trigger on 1 object(s) in the alert scope. When I click on Show List it shows unknown.

Unknown is the value in Display Name Field on the Select Field/Event screen, so not sure if that is where it is pulling that name from. The table pulls two fields from the OID which correlate to Current Value: and Row ID:

The real issue is the alert never actually triggers.

Update: The alert is working, but their is no useful information on the alert. if shows the display name of unknown instead of the Current Value field.

DPA-VMAN-Scripts Questions

Hi,

l need a help. l have a questions;

1- On DPA, l want to run script to see databases table size for mssql, oracle etc. After that, script triggers alert. When l run script on solarwinds, ıt can just look database first table value, it can not look another table without first table. But when l run  script without solarwinds platform, script is running normally. What is the problem? Why isn’t script run on solarwinds, normally ?

2-İf l add just a vmware or hyper-v on solarwinds, automatically is it bring all virtual servers from vmware or hyper-v? Every time, l don’t want to add virtual servers individually for each one. İf it brings virtual servers, can l see monitor disk, cpu, ram, etc for virtual servers ? For example, l just added vmware machine to monitoring. After that, l created new virtual server in vmware. And then, automatically can it bring new virtual server to monitoring from vmware ? (But l don’t want to add new virtual server from solarwinds add node menu)

3- Does alert action trigger to run a script for any remote servers? When alert was triggered, can it run script on any remote servers? Is it possible?

Thanks,

Netflow report for bandwidth or utilization between source and destination

Hi

I need to create a report for the Netflow data, that will show me the amount of data passed between source and destination, for example, the amount of data (in bytes) passed between an IP in the organization and the mail server in the last 7 days or 24 hours, or any IP to any application. I did not find something like that in the reports, or I missed it if it is there.

Any Idea?

Thanks in advance and regards

ServiceNow Unassigned tickets

I've recently turned on the integration and have found an issue where a ticket which is assigned to a staff member and where the ticket state was "assigned" was changed to "unassigned". I can't figure out how to affect this behavior. Just because the alert is still active is no reason to change the state unless the state was set to resolved. In this case it was not.

Alert not triggering. Can't work out why.

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up an alert on Solarwinds. Very basic - alert me when an interface on a specific node goes down. Reset the alert when its back up.

Firstly I cant believe there isnt a template for this already. So I set the alert up using the rather disorganised GUI - which wasnt exactly a walk in the park, since it's not intuitive at all!

Here's the alert trigger condition:

trigger condition

And reset condition:

reset

and the trigger action:

action

Reset action is pretty much the same.

This alert is enabled, but doesnt seem to trigger. Is something set up wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Does anyone know of a link or have a method to import tags from AWS into nodes sitting in SolarWinds ?

This would be an extremely helpful function if robust.   Thanks all.
