Hi Forum,

Can someone point me to where, once exported, I can then re-import network maps into Network Atlas?
There is clearly an export function available, with various export options, yet look as I have, I see no option anywhere to import back into Network Atlas... ?
Use case for this for me is that I want to clear out a bunch of existing maps without deleting them and then have the option to add them back (import them) should I need to without having to recreate them all.
Thanks in advance,
Daniel
Im trying to put together a dashboard which only shows Firewalls on the page with a few details like up / down and whatever else. I cant seem to find any documentation on how to do this. The best I can find is customizing a "device view" but how do I create a dashboard showing only the devices I want to show?
Hi
I am new to Solarwinds Orion so apologies if this has been answered before.
What I'm trying to do is set up a custom dashboard which can be an overview of our Linux servers (we also monitor a bunch of windows servers and network equipment but don't want them in this dashboard)
I would like to be able to display graphs etc which can show stats like:
Total network traffic across all Linux servers
A summary of CPU and memory usage - Show me servers which are using a high % of their memory or CPU etc
Show me any Linux servers which are nearly filling up their disk
All active alerts on only the Linux servers
There are others as well but that would be a good start, is something like this possible?
Cheers
Martin
I'm interested in building a report, or even generating a simple query with SDK / SWQL / SQL, that shows the total number of switchport with active link on them, once a day.
Meaning that if any port has a link on it at any time during a 24-hour period it would count as an active link.
I'd like this aggregated into a chart that shows a line graph of the active ports changing.
If it can generate the query more than once a day and show hourly active-port numbers changing, that would be even more interesting.
First off, I didn't find a canned report in SolarWinds NPM that can do this. Are you aware of one? If so, what's it called?
Second, have you already built a custom report that can do this? If so, would you share it with me, or share how you built it with me?
Last, do you know (or do you have a good idea) how to build a SWQL or SQL query that can display the total number of active ports on demand--or over time?
Swift Packets!

I am trying to get an accurate inventory of our Cisco equipment but the reporting function is failing me.
The canned IOS reports don't include stacked switches. The switch stack report I built based on Thwack guidance is nice but I get incomplete information. Many missing stack members.
Serial numbers are accurate for the ones that show up but the IOS image information is based on the master, not what is actually running on the switch.
Most of the stacks are 3750's or 2960X's.
Any ideas why I could be getting incomplete data? I fear a manual inventory is in my immediate future.
Does SolarWinds supports monitoring of cisco router NAT translation?
If yes, are there any special configuration on the router aside from the snmp?
Hey,
I am trying to install SolarWinds NPM and it is failing.
First I tried with the latest version 11.5 and when the configuration wizard started I got an error that it can't connect to the database.
Then I recreated the machine and tried with version 11.0.1 and got the same issue - the installation went fine until the configuration wizard started and it showed an error that can't connect to database.
I am using the standard method of install with SolarWinds automatically installing the MS SQL instance on the local host and IIS. The host is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter which is a fresh installation - nothing else running on it.
After this I tried to rerun the installation of NPM and it completed for 2-3 minutes not doing anything - seems like the actual NPM installation is done fine. Next thing is I see the configuration wizard starting and failing with the same error. Then I can manually start the Configuration wizard and it asks me for SQL Server and the credentials. So I choose the local Orion instance and hit the button "Use original database login and password" and click on Next - I see the error:
"Can not connect to the SQL Server. The original error is: Login failed for user 'SolarWindsOrionDatabaseUser'"
I try to start the Orion Database Manager and try to "Add default server" and still get the error:
"A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a
connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible.
Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to
allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"
As I already tried recreating the OS and installing different versions of NPM which has worked on a different host, I think the issue is with the local SQL which NPM is trying to create.
So is there a way that I can recreate the database? How can I do that?
The difference between the working and non working envs is that the non working one is in the Microsoft Azure Cloud..

Currently we have groups of engineers around the globe and i'm trying to figure out how we can send the same alerts to different groups based on time. Trying not to get woken up in the middle of the night while our other teams in a different time zone are taking care of it heh. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!
We would like to improve user experience and for such reason I'd like to better understand if our users prefers INITIALLY to add nodes manually or run product network discovery in order to import devices to NPM
NPM 12.3 has shipped and we're hard at work building the next release. Here's what we're working on, in no particularly order.
We would like to create a SAM that indicates if a node's Windows admin password is not in scope with our standards.
Example:
We set our server admin accounts to the following password: t3x@S32rTr20!+18^v
If a node does not have this password, we get an alert and can address the issue in a timely fashion.

What version of BIG-IP your F5s run?
What percentage of all your switch ports approximately comes from stacked and standalone switches?
We recently saw that "Cisco NBAR support" was voted #1 enhancement request for NTA - the Network Traffic Analyzer.
Above and beyond NBAR, we are wondering what are your most important needs for advanced traffic analysis techniques such as Network Based Application Recognition-NBAR, Deep Packet Inspection-DPI, Flexible Netflow

With the explosion of smart mobile devices, both tablets and phones and end users wanting to connect them for email, remote access (VPN), wireless etc. How are you handling this? Does your organization even see this as a problem? What level of control are you looking for? Do you care if they have apps like DropBox are installed on them and uploading corporate files without your knowledge?
When I talk about Mobile Device Management I mean specifically things like:

Do you have a need to detect rogue APs connected to your network?
There has been over 1 million of Cisco ASAs built and deployed around the world in a past years (good job Cisco!). As not supporting SNMP protocol properly, they often complicate our lives when configured to be Default gateways, not allowing products like SolarWinds User Device Tracker to monitor what's behind. Do you use your ASAs as a Default gateways too? If so, what percentage of your network they route?
