Two weeks ago I migrated our systems to new servers. I relied heavily on this document http://www.solarwinds.com/documentation/Orion/docs/OrionServerMigration.pdf
While that was great there were some flaws I ran into that should really be incorporated into the documentation. Andy McBride
1. Unmanage Scheduler. These scheduled tasks are not stored in the database and have to be moved manually.
2. NCM jobs. Like the unmanage scheduler these jobs also need to be moved. I found a second issue with this piece however in that the installation path for NCM had changed from when I originally installed it so even moving the jobs wasn't enough I had to edit them to represent the correct paths.
3. The documentation mentioned certificates that needed to be migrated for SAM & NCM. Neither of these existed on my original system and I was able to move without an issue no clue as to why it worked or why the docs suggested I'd have to migrate them.
4. WPM Players, I had to go and update the players (as they were set to player initiated connection to point to the new gear. While I knew I needed to do this it should be documented as part of the process.
5. Installation of ODBC clients. I had to install MySQL, Oracle, Teradata clients on the new server. Once again this is a step I was aware of but not documented at all.
I think there was something else but I'm drawing a blank on it now...I'll update this thread if I think of it.
