Disk space alert based on custom property

Hello everyone,

 

I'm trying to set up an alert for free space on physical volumes, based on available space and a custom property.  The custom property is set to whatever the threshold for that individual drive should be, as shown below

My alert is then set up like this:

I've tried several different configurations on this, such as setting the custom property to a floating point instead of integer.  I've also tried different entries for the custom property.  Right now it's set at 12582912, basically 12GB expressed in bytes, but I've also tried just 12.  No matter what combination I do, I can't get this alert to trigger.

 

Any suggestions or ideas for why I can't seem to get this to work?

Error when managing views after upgrading to NPM v11.5

Hey guys,

 

I think I need some help with an error I am seeing when I try to manage any of the views for NPM.  The error I am seeing is "object reference not set to an instance of an object" and I've only started seeing this after upgrading to 11.5 last Thursday, 3/12/2015.  Has anyone seen this issue when they've upgraded to 11.5 and found a way to resolve it?  There are a few older threads out there that state to either reinstall everything from scratch, blow away the website via IIS, then run the config wizard for either all resources or just the website.  It's not entirely clear which is the best path to resolve the issue.  My team is still able to work but I would like to utilize some of the new features brought in with the upgrade to 11.5.

 

The threads I have found are : Error editing a View - An unexpected error occurred: Object reference not set to an instance of an object  NPM add or edit view error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" and Unexpected Website Error  Object reference not set to an instance of an object after NPM 10.7

 

My current SolarWinds configuration : NPM(11.5) and NCM(7.2.2) Additional Web-server, NPM(11.5) and NCM(7.2.2) Polling Engine, NPM(11.5) Additional Polling engine, SQL 2008 r2 database server.

 

I really appreciate all the help I can get here b/c this one is stumping me.  Thanks in advance!

Customized view- can it be exported

I have created a Customized view for charts/reports for NPM NCM NTA for the Admin login, can the same view be exported for the other user login or they need to be mapped manually.

Critical Value Reached (Percent Loss) Triggering Falsely

Since upgrading from 11.5.0 to 11.5.2, our alert on packet loss has started triggering (and recovering, and triggering, and recovering, ad nauseum). The alert is using the "Critical Value Reached (Percent Loss)" and "Warning Value Reached (Percent Loss)" (aka SWQL E0.[PercentLossThreshold].[IsLevel2State]).

 

The nodes are reporting 0% loss. There is nothing in the graph, and even in the trigger of the alert I send out ${Node.PercentLoss}, which is always showing 0%.

 

I've opened ticket 821972 on Tuesday, but I think with the all the releases, support is very backed up, so the case hasn't even been started.

 

Anybody using thresholds for alerting? Are you experiencing the same issues?

Which Switch interfaces should I monitor on NPM?

I am working on a trial.  I am on a very restrictive budget and I am trying to keep my interface count down but I have around 750 just from my switches.  What interfaces are best to cut or keep?  Do you monitor all of the physical ports or VLANs? If you were going to cut one or other which would you cut? I assume most monitor the trunks. Thanks for the help.

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Just upgraded SAM 6.1 and NPM to 10.7.   When I drill into a node,  I still see the normal node details view, but if I click to drill into an interface on the node I now get the dreaded:

 

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.


Anyone else seeing this or have suggestions?

Network Atlas ConnectNow will not connect

Hi, I'm fairly new to Network Atlas, but I am having an issue trying to get a working map of my routers.  I can use Sonar to detect my routers, but when I try to connect them via ConnectNow, I get "0 discovered links mapped"  What am I missing?  The devices I'm using are defined in the SysObjectID.

I have a DeviceType custom property created and I need to add and edit values in the drop list I made. I also made this a mandatory value as well when adding nodes.

Dell ESX Server Hardware Monitoring

I notice that I can see hardware details and the status of hardware failures on some ESX 5.5 nodes but it doesn't look like OMSA is installed as there is no hardware and heath sensors resource option on the nodes list resources.  We have NPM 10.7 installed.  I don't administer the ESX hosts and I don't think OMSA is installed.  We do not have Virtualization Manager licensing.

 

1.  Is that because the node is configured to with credentials in VMware Polling Settings?

2. Would we be able to get more functionality if OMSA was installed?

Solarwinds Database over 80% full

Hi All,

 

As the title suggests, my installation of NPM is complaining that it is over 80% full.. I saw some older documentations on how to fix this, I ran the truncate commands on my database tables but that doesn't appear to have done much, and I think the steps changed with new versions I.E. someone mentioned to right click my database and "compact" it however I saw no such options.

 

If someone could please walk me through getting my DB cleared up, perhaps also help changing the retention periods so they don't pile up again that would be super awesome. I tried reading the documentations for this and they mentioned Orion System Manager but didn't state how to find it.

Unable to view link details on Map View

Hi,

 

I have created a map using network atlas which shows link utilisation between different nodes.

 

When I log in as admin, and check the map view via the 'Manage Views' section, the preview shows all the interface details (check attachment labelled 'with details on admin account'). When I click on the link I can see further information on a separate page.

 

But when I log in as the standard account which uses that specific view, I can't see the interface details anymore. (check attachment labelled 'without details on normal account') When I click o the link I get a 'You do not have permission to view this object :' error.

 

Please advise on how to fix this. I have checked account limitations for this specific account but cannot find anything that would cause this.

Random SQL Error

Hi,

 

When I'm clicking on a device that has appeared on a 'Top 10' type list, or utilisaition, SolarWinds seems to time out for some reason stating some form of SQL Error.

 

I have taken a copy of the error information from diagnostics (attached with the discussion)

 

Please look into it and advise on how to rectify this issue.

How Can I Create Custom Poller for Simple Queue and The formula Transform Results?

Hello All,

Presently all our clients are queued in the router via Simple Queue List in Mikrotik router. The simple queue list is basically used to band limit our clients. In order for us to get jitter reports for each client, we need to be able to get bandwidth utilization in Orion.


Can all good people out there with the below. I would like to create custom poller using the OID below.


I would appreciate if anyone could use the below to show how I can go about it and the Transform results formula to get the result in MB

At a Lose

Ok sorry if this is a double post but I don't see my original one... So I am trying to use Network Atlas to show the link utilization between a set of port channels on a Fusion Router and the corresponding VLAN connections on a 6509 VSS chassis... it looks something like this:

So in NPM the devices show up just fine and the port channels / VLAN connections also show up just fine... the issue is if I drop these into a Network Atlas map and try "Connect Now" nothing connections. If I do "manual connections" I get something like the image where is says the hyperlink is automatically generated yet nothing shows up for link speed or utilization... thoughts?

Hello Team,

 

Kindly advice on how to resolve below error, I am running Orion NPM version 11.5.

 

Could not load file or assembly 'Infragistics2.WebUI.Shared.v8.2, Version=8.2.20082.1000, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=7dd5c3163f2cd0cb' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Last database update 01.01.0001 on some node of orion npm

Hello.

On last 20 nodes, which i added on orion npm, in polling details Last database updates is 01.01.0001. Its mean, that  this nodes don't monitored by orion npm. and in sql table dbo.Nodes in columns LastSynh is NULL for all this nodes.

So what i shoud do to correct this problem.
