We have enabled DNS and it works for resolving the name for Nodes but not for Client Name under the Wireless Summary View of the NPM. The Client Name just shows as the IP address. Where does the NPM pull that name - from a DNS server or from the Wireless LAN Controller (using Cisco 2504 with lightweight APs).

Orion NPM 11.5 SQL Authentication
The docs say "must be mixed-mode or SQL authentication", and I found a post here from several years ago explaining that the "windows authentication" option in the configuration wizard is only there to setup the SQL user(s) that Orion will use later.
Is this still accurate? Or is there a way to force SQL Authentication? It's not the end of the world, but our standard is Windows Auth Only so I need to make *sure* that there's no alternative before we can authorize the exception.

Node does not respond with the supplied read write snmpv3 credentials
Good Day,
I am currently trying to set up SNMPv3 on my Cisco routers, currently I am getting the test failed with the error message (node does not respond with the supplied read write snmpv3 credentials)
I have reachability from the server to my routers etc as well as I have enabled the SNMP using the SNMP enabler on the windows server.
Please see my SNMPv3 configuration below:

Need help...Can Solarwinds accept traps from other tools and re-send it?
Hi All,
Need some help..
We have Solarwinds integrated to Zenoss tool. Now the requirement is to have a refresh interval between the two.
So Zenoss will send traps to Solarwinds and then Solarwinds should capture and resend them so that incase any alert is closed by mistake in Zenoss then as per refresh interval it can be re-sent.
Any help would be appreciated.

SNMP - Write
Have any of you used Orion to push a change to a device using SNMP Write?
I am wanting to know if I will be able to push a change to a Windows XP / 7 machine from Orion and have a value changed from FALSE to TRUE for example, so the next time a custom poller runs and sees a TRUE statement an action can occur.
From what I can work out so far, NCM might be the only thing that uses SNMP write.

Finding unmanaged/unmanageable switches
Hello all
Not sure if this fits best in the NPM or the UDT section (i have both products).
I am trying to find a way to track down unmanaged switches in my environment, so i can force the company to replace them! Problem is a lot of the sites are remote, and these potential switches could be in roof void's etc.
Is there a query anyone has access to that would check my ports, and report back any ports with multiple Mac's on that isnt a trunk port?
Unless anyone already knows a more efficient way to find them?

Steps for migrating NPM instance into another existing NPM instance
I was hoping someone may have done this before, and wanted any/all input I could gather before I build a MOP to complete the task.
Currently, company has two instance of NPM:
- 1 for sites in North America.
- 1 for sites outside of North America.
We would like to move the outside of North America sites into the existing North America NPM instance. At that time we will then have a single instance of NPM handling all sites and nodes for the company. Then we will decommission the older server.
NPM on both servers is 11.0.1
NTA is 3.11.0

Since upgrading to NPM 11.5.2 last week we've had intermittent, and serious, problems with the information service crashing.

As I was writing this it looks like there is process generating snapshots of limitations? (is this new in 11.5.2?)
This error corrupts SWIS (I think it loses the database connection handle, and subsequent queries on the handle fail, which leads to other oddities); eventually SWISv3 crashes and restarts ... This has been going on all day...
It looks to me like the 'group of groups' type of limitation is breaking SWIS when that periodic recalc is performed :-(

Is there a way to use a logarithmic function to transform a results of UnDP?
Hi all - I have some devices where I am trying to monitor the optical light levels of the optics. The UnDP returns results that are expressed in mW and I would love to display them as dBm. I don't see a function for that in the transform results tool so I am trying:
formula = log({custom_poller_rxPower}/10000)*10 takes a returned value of 6285 and transforms to 6.285, acting like the log function isn't working. I have validated the formula using Excel and it appears to work fine: LOG(6285/10000)*10 = -2.02.
Is this just a Solarwinds limitation?
