Sometimes devices show up in Orion as "unknown". Those devices need to be added to our SysObjectID database. We know about lots of them, but we'd like to hear which items you need.

When I logged into NPM, there is no "Settings" next to "Reports". I do see "Settings" on other users screen when they log in. So how can I bring mine out?

We have recently added some Dell Force-10 S Series model switches to our inventory. I want to run SNMPv3 on these switches for security, but having tough time to get them to add as a node in NPM. Anyone have any good configuration on Dell Force 10 with recent code. I looked around and latest post I have is from two years ago and some that is not applying to this code level. Any thoughts?
I think I already know the answer but wants to make sure. Can you tell the polling engine no to poll all the devices at the same time? Let me clarify, Can I group all my devices into 2 or 3 different groups and then tell the polling engine to poll those at different intervals? i.e. poll group 1 every XX, group 2 every XX, and so on. I'm looking at this question from a network performance point of view, not the solarwinds server.
One of the most common things that happen for a team member's who's oncall is that the NOC will call them about an alert.
Often it's not something that's actually important that's down. But rather it's an alert that had been ack'd at an earlier time
coming out of Ack state. Would there be any way to find out ahead of time what alerts are expected to come out of Ack

I installed the new Hotfix Bundle for Products with Orion 2017.3 on our primary polling engine this morning without issues.
When I wanted to install on our APE, I get a systems check error that I must use the "Scalability engines installer". However when I use that installer, it does not seem to install any updates.
How do you install hotfixes on APE's now?

Guys, can anyone give me a real wordl example of the usefulness of DPI? An engineer enabled it across the board on our agents but the info it provides to my eye is pretty useless. It seems to tell you things like 'traffic to Active Directory is slow' but so what! No detail on what process, what type of packet etc. Seems useless. I used Splunk stream and its free and much more powerful. Maybe I'm missing something?

I am trying to create a resource(?) that can be updated hourly and be used to track room temperature readings from a CAI WebControl-8 PLC appliance. I'm not sure if this should be in NPM or SAM. The field(s) would have to be manually updated from SWIS/SDK/Powershell since the appliance does not support SNMP, only .CGI calls. Each node could have up to 8 DS18b20 temp sensors to track.
I remember seeing something about this a while ago but can't seem to dig it up. Are there any plans for offline maps for those who have secure environments where access to the Internet is not possible?

We are running NPM 12.1 and SAM 6.4 and trying to install a stackable APE. I have tried the bundled and individual packages as well as downloading it from the webconsole under polling engines and they all fail to run. The majority of the errors are "An Orion component that is not compatible with this installer has already been installed..you cannot install additional component", or "MSMQ installation has failed, install manually or contact SW support". To date I have disabled the MSMQ feature and manually re-added it, disabled TLS1.2, tried different versions of .NET, removed hotfixes, and tried installing packages on 2 other servers. I have had a support ticket open since August. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!

Is there a way to get a bandwidth utilization report where: 1) you don't have the availability of using Netflow; and 2) you want to see the percent utilization of the actual available bandwidth, not as a it relates to the speed of the interface. What I mean by number 2 is, our ISP-facing interface is a 1Gb link, but we only get 500 Mbps of bandwidth from them. Any percent utilization reports I've done always use the capability of the interface as the number that NPM uses to calculate utilization percentage from, not the actual bandwidth that's available to us. Just wondering if there's an edit I can do to 'trick' NPM into thinking that 500 meg is the full pipe, not 1 gig.
Any of that make sense???

I am in a bind as our sole SW administrator is out on a medical emergency. I have been asked to see if i can do a task, that I just am not qualified to do. I typically only do Solarwinds Reporting.
I am being asked to have Solarwinds monitor for SSL/Port 443 availability
Is this something that is already being monitored, or must something be set up for it. My guess is it is not something I can do with my credentials, but may be able to get the right info to a more technical resource.
