Hello everyone -
Just wondering if there is any feedback on HF5.
We are planning to deploy it tonight.
Thanks!

This seems like an easy task. I am trying to use the Orion Report Writer to create a custom query where I already have this SWQL query. I go in and create a new report, there is the SQL tab. There is text saying "Enter SQL query here"; however I cannot type any text. Am I missing something simple here?
Hi all. First ever post!
So, we upgraded our edge firewalls from FortiGate 200Bs and 300Cs to 100Es in order to support the 5.4.x code, but once we upgraded and rediscovered our firewalls, not all the interfaces are showing up in the discovery process. I started poking around custom poller creation and noticed that the 100E is not in the MIB database. My question is this: Is there a way for me to append the MIB file (that I verified has 100E stuff in it) to the MIBs.cfg file in NPM? Or, is there a way for us to send the MIB file to SolarWinds so they can publish a new MIBs.cfg file?
Thanks!
Hi
Does any one has Juniper gear that display IEEE 802.3ad interfaces (LAG) in Atlas or the new map from NPM 12.3?
We're looking into how thin AP monitoring works today and would like your input. How does thin AP alerting and other aspects of monitoring thin APs work for you? Are there areas where you feel we're doing good or bad? What would you add or remove about our current functionality.
I'm interested in your thoughts!
How to suppress the alert when the duplicate interface occurs
For example :
Switch A port g0/1 to Switch B port g1/1 a line is connected as trunk. If switch A port g0/1 is down then am getting two alert for both switch and ports.
How can i avoid one alert in this case????
After installing, and then uninstalling the July Microsoft patches around .NET Framework, we have been dealing with some serious instability in our environment. If you aren't familiar with the patches, they're documented here:
Advisory on July 2018 .NET Framework Updates · Issue #74 · dotnet/announcements · GitHub
Microsoft released these, we installed, they pulled them and then released another one to fix the issues that were found, but then said they did not think that it fixed everything on the 2008 R2 servers (we have two in our environment - one being the core Orion server, along with 9 2012 R2 servers). We have since uninstalled all of the patches from our environment, but still experience the issues.
The issues we are seeing is that the businesslayerhost process is crashing very often on our pollers, and we have a ton of apps (mostly the ones that monitor on our agent-based machines) going into an unknown state continuously throughout the day - about 1,000 out of the 8,000 total. The event log errors we are seeing are at the bottom of this email. My question is are you guys aware of these patches causing instability with SolarWinds? What about on the agent side? I know the agent relies on .NET framework, as it installs it during the installation process if it isn't already there. With the way that we are seeing the issues on our pollers, it almost makes me think that we are having issues communicating with the agents, thus causing the unknown app numbers to bounce around all day as the pollers are having trouble getting the data in time. I believe all of our agent-managed machines still have these patches, even though they are all 2012 R2 and up.
For reference, here is the version(s) we are at:

Is support no longer 24/7? I called both the NPM & SAM queue Saturday night/Sunday morning as I was migrating my primary polling engine and running into problems. I sat on hold for an hour until it forced me to leave a voicemail. I still haven't gotten a call back, though I did get an email that they received my message at around 2AM this morning. This is very disappointing and is the second time in the last year I've needed support late night on a weekend and have been unable to get anyone on the phone....
Hello I'm very newbie on SolarWinds.
I want to know about , what information can provide by NPM+NTA and if I have only NPM what information I can't no longer see in NPM+NTA.
Thank you.
Using 12.2 Latest HF and the performance is horrible in the UI. I use many enterprise apps with web front ends that handle lots of nodes/data and they seems to be able to render much more quickly than seemly trivial pages in NPM. For example, the 'All settings' page regularly takes 3-5 seconds to load. This is slow as it should be just text based html. I've been looking at it with chrome dev tools and lighthouse and its seems the Javascript and general caching is not optimized at all, For example, this near 1 MB javascript library seems to be being repeatedly downloaded:
This also has the header no-cache on it.
I've a support ticket open and its been indicated to me that this is a known issue.
The other thread is closed so I figured I would start a new one I usually get more help here than actually contacting support.
So same issues as before but instead of the server not responding in 36 hours or so it took maybe a week but it is the SAME issues.
1. Server stopped sending alerts out sometime around 11AM on the 4th.
2. Logged onto server and opened Orion service manager and both the module engine and the administration service were going back and forth between running and stopping.
3. Orion could not connect to SQL
4. I have some alerts that at are going out but not sure if they are legit or not.
5. After the reboot I notice that a good chunk of my nodes interfaces are 'unknown' this looks like it fixes itself but again something else going on.
I have applied the 'hotfix' that you all pushed out to try to fix this.
I have done the change from streaming to buffered
I have done the registry change for the ports
The only thing I have not done is revert the snap shots back to June 14th prior to the update so Solarwinds is stable again.
At this point I am going to schedule a task in VM Ware to reboot the server every night. That is pretty much the only way I will know Solarwinds will actually work.
Hi!
Is it possible using sonar discovery using ICMP only? Because when I use it, not all nodes are seen. But when I manually add IP Addresses/nodes using ICMP only, they appear and get registered as nodes, although in ICMP mode only. But this is temporary since the network is still being fixed to accept SNMP.
TIA.
Hi,
I understand this is needed as part of the job engine but our security team has just jumped all over my back as it is EOL and support ended back in April 2018.
Version 4 is available but i'm not sure i can just go install the latest version without causing any issues, has anyone got any experience with this and how to keep the security team happy??
Thanks
We have a multi vendor network and are struggling to get accurate topology information on any equipment other than our Cisco estate.
We have multiple subnets and on Cisco only subnets the topology information is reported correctly.
However in other subnets where we have multi vendors we struggle to get accurate topology information, some devices report their information where others don't.
e.g. we have 2 Cisco Distribution switches that run spanning tree on 2 seperate rings on a subnet, a very brief layout is below
Vendor A -> Vendor B -> Vendor B -> Vendor B -> Vendor B - Vendor B -> Vendor A
On the above scenario we have toplogoy information from 1 to 2, nothing from 2 to 3, nothing from 3 to 4, information from 4 to 5, nothing from 5 to 6 and information from 6 to 7.
Vendor A is Cisco, Vendor B is Garrettcom and the links between switches are fibre.
Each node has both the L2 & L3 boxes ticked under resources and in the back end database i can see the L2 connections for each of the nodes.
In the database however under the toplogy table i only see some of the links being reported.
Using Network Atlas (ConnectNow) or NTM show the same results.
The vast majority of these nodes have been added manually, however i have tried running Network Discovery to see if the toplogy information can be recalculated but no matter what i try i cannot get this information to show.
We will be in a position shortly to upgarde to the latest version of NPM (currently running V12.1).
Question is do i upgrade the software from 12.1 to the latest, or trash my database and start again from a fresh install of the latest version and then re-import all of my devices again and start over using Network Discovery to add my nodes.
Or is there some other way of getting the topology information to be displayed on a mixed vendor subnet without too much effort?
Any ideas / suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi,
I am getting an error when clicking on edit node " " Unexpected Website Error
The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://schemas.solarwinds.com/2008/Core:GetNodeWithOptionsResult. The InnerException message was 'Member '_compareInfo' was not found.'. Please see InnerException for more details"
I have traced the https packets and it is getting aborted. Can you please let me know what can be the reason for the same?

Hi All,
Can we enable auto dependency for interfaces ??
