Almost CPU performance using by SWjobengineworker2.exe process.

Good day to all, we have to do server sizing for the SolarWinds NPM, NTA , SAM and NCM. What is the best way we can deploy all therse product in a virtual enviourment.
Is it possible that we make a seprate Database Machine for all the modules?
can we install NPM , NTA , SAM and NCM on one machine or we have to do on seprate machine?

uhm.. I installed seven modules(NPM,SAM,NCM,NTA,VNQM,LEM,IVIM). only these(NPM,SAM,NCM,NTA,VNQM) modules got their own menu tabs. so i want to know how to integrate IVIM and LEM so that they're accessible via one web console. please see attached image for clarity of what I'm trying to achieve. your help will be much appreciated.

While trying to install NPM v11.5.2 on Windows 2012 R2,
I got the error below (see picture below),
when i checked the orion service manager, i found just 4 service there (if i remember : Job engine, Collector Mangment agent, collector data processor, collector polling controller), also the solarwinds web directory was empty after finish !!
the Framework 3.5 sp1 & framework 4.0 & update 4.0.3 are installed.

I am seeing memory resource being consumed a lot from past 2 weeks. When i m checking the task manager, i see 2 process are taking it. SWIS.exe and SoalrWinds Business Layer Host.
any suggestions on what action can be taken?
Sometimes devices show up in Orion as "unknown". Those devices need to be added to our SysObjectID database. We know about lots of them, but we'd like to hear which items you need.
We need:
SysObjectID (which you can find in Node Details) in System Manager.

Hello,
I have just installed a few days ago the NPM from solar
winds.
I have setup some node (7 HP switches) and I can see them in
the top ten reports etc…
I need help with an issue I have, on Friday and today my
network almost came to a stop in the morning on Friday this was from around
9:15 am until 10:15 today was from 9:00 am until around 12:30pm.
When I see the graphs they show me that the switches have
about 70% traffic transmitting but nothing receiving, I am trying to find the
source of this but I am not sure of my way around to do this yet.
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be
very grateful as this is bringing the network down.

I've seen this needed a few times here and with various clients so I find a spreadsheet similar to this comes in handy.
This spreadsheet can be used to create the SQL update queries to bulk update node names in the SolarWinds database.
Note: This query will only work on the newer Orion database structure (NPM 11.5+, SAM 6.2+, NCM 7.4+) as it references the 'NodesData' table. For older versions, change the table to 'Nodes'.
1. Get a list of the node captions and IP addresses that you need to update as two columns. There are a few ways to do this but try one of the below:
- Generate a report in the report writer - select the caption/nodename and IP address fields.
- Run a SQL query on the database (Using either SQL Management Studio or Database Manager on the SolarWinds server).
SELECT Caption, IP_Address FROM [dbo].[Nodes]
- Once you have your list, update the list with your new captions as well as any new IP addresses.
2. If you need to import these nodes into SolarWinds, run a discovery and import all of the nodes using the IP address list (manually add the nodes that don't respond as the discovery will only find your up nodes).
3. Use the attached spreadsheet to generate the SQL queries that you can use to update the database with the desired names (matching on IP address). Paste the captions and IP addresses into columns A and B. Column D contains the SQL queries.
4. Backup your SolarWinds database.
5. Paste the queries back into SQL Management Studio or Database Manager and execute to update the node names. E.g.
UPDATE NodesData SET Caption = 'Fred' WHERE IP_Address = '1.2.3.4' UPDATE NodesData SET Caption = 'Testname' WHERE IP_Address = '1.1.1.1'

My team has opted to install a parallel instance of NPM rather than upgrading our original / older version of NPM. The reasons are varied, but unimportant once the decision was made.
They've run into a snag importing older NPM 's ICMP-monitored nodes. The nodes were created manually over many years; each one has an IP address and a manually created name.
Alerts were built for those nodes based on a name included in the node. If a node goes unreachable, NPM sends an alert based on that name to a group of users who support those nodes.
We've found we're unable to extract that list of ICMP-monitored nodes without losing their names--all that comes out is their IP addresses.
How can we extract the ICMP-monitored IP addresses AND their names imported into the new NPM?
Example: A typical ICMP-monitored node contains the phrase "Fred" and a site location in its name. When it stops responding to pings, NPM detects a "Fred" kind of node is down and sends that device's name and IP address in an e-mail to the analysts who support "Fred" devices. Since the name also contains the site location and the device's IP address, they know just which city/site it's in, and who to contact to troubleshoot it.
Extracting this list of devices from old NPM gives a long list of IP addresses without the names that should be associated with them. This causes the alerts to fail since they're looking for "Fred" in the name. Then the analysts don't receive their notifications until the end users complain.
How would you export the list of ICMP-monitored devices to include both their names and their IP addresses for import into the latest version of NPM?

Anyone can tell the architecture of Solarwinds Orion NPM.
There has been over 1 million of Cisco ASAs built and deployed around the world in a past years (good job Cisco!). As not supporting SNMP protocol properly, they often complicate our lives when configured to be Default gateways, not allowing products like SolarWinds User Device Tracker to monitor what's behind. Do you use your ASAs as a Default gateways too? If so, what percentage of your network they route?
Hello, Im starting with Solarwinds NPM and I have 2 licences, one for NPM 10.3 and other one for 11.5
I installed 10.3 but web console show devices only not data ewlated them (Server show disk but no use status, CPU without consume, link without traffic).
I tried to find this problem in administrator manual, without success.
Could you help me ???

We are receiving an error when trying to use the network sonar discovery. "An error while processing results has occurred. See discovery log for more details."
Also tried to add the nodes by clicking the "results" tab and get the following error.
"ProvideFault failed, check fault information."
I just wanted to take a moment to share my opinions with the community and see if I am alone in this or if people agree.
Yesterday I upgraded our Development instance of NPM / APM to the latest versions and I have to say, I am very disappointed in the new alerting mechanism. I used to be able to import and export Alert Actions. Now that's completely gone?! Maybe I am missing something, but I see nothing on the Trigger or Reset Actions pages that let me import the same action that I use elsewhere. Must I really type / add all the variables every time I add a new alert? Even through most of my alerts use the same bank of actions? This is so much more cumbersome than the Win32 application. I want the other new features of the new versions, but won't be upgrading my production version anytime soon - if ever - unless this stuff gets more user friendly.
Roughly 4 hours to upgrade from NPM 11.0 to NPM 11.5 RC.
Below, are the basics for the environment
3 servers (all VMs w/6CPUs, 32GB RAM, & 150GB+ storage)
Orion products=NPM, NCM, NTA, ET, & Additional Poller
Server1=Primary NPM, NCM server
Server2=NTA, NCM, & Additional Poller
Server3=DataBase
Problems/Issues found so far:
There is simply a little black box in the corner where the logo would be.
This box remains, whether the logo setting is checked or unchecked.
I opened a ticket with tech support, ticket #741777, where they were able to determine these new resources were causing the page timeouts.
Support ended up removing these resources from all views.
Afterwards, the pages loaded up without any issues.
Removing these new resources does allow us to use our system again, however, a new feature you cannot use, is, well, not of any real use.

On a side note, it would be nice to be able to click on these variables, allowing you to go back in to adjust them.
I would also like to see these alerts/alert variables better managed, now they are web based.
The values, if I remember correctly, were able to be adjusted from the server based alert program, yet here, in the new web based alerts, it does not allow the advanced editing of ALL of them.
Some variables allow it, while others do not. (I do not recall as much work required with getting the converted data in the previous version, so it may simply be something I am overlooking...)
Also, it would be nice if the conversion/formula would take the current percent utilization and convert it to the corresponding Gbps/Mbps/Kbps etc... (For the example image below, the number/value did not change at all, for any of the conversion options.)
Previously, we were able to have the alert send out the current traffic value, in a readable format, for the interface(s). Currently, there is either no option to do so, or I have simply not found it.
I know I am probably the only one here that does not like to be contained in tiny little workspaces, but...PLEASE!!!!!!!!
Please give me a way to use the space I have available. Scrollbars on tiny windows are the devil!!
It would be so very very nice to be able to work within a window/space that had column widths auto adjusted, and workspaces either auto adjust as well, or just give us the option to adjust things, and then make sure to remember the settings so we do not have readjust them the next time. Just think of all those nerds, with their desktop real estate starving and wasting away... don't punish them... it's not their fault...
If/When we come across any other issues, I will update this page accordingly.

This poller calculates RAM as: 1 – (memAvailReal / memTotalReal)
...rather than the SolarWinds calculation of: 1 - ((memAvailReal + memBuffer + memCache) / memTotalReal)
Using the new(ish) "Manage Pollers" option in NPM, you can apply this to any nodes you want, and have the "default" RAM values populated with this calculation.

Do anyone has encounter any problem like webconsole reporting Polling Engine down status on primary poller. I had installed 11.5.2 (GA) and applied Orion 11.5.2 Hotfix 3 One month back and everything was running fine , till this polling engine down was reported on my primary polling engine yesterdat. All the alerting and polling is happening fine but only status shows polling engine down and last database sync on primary poller not happening but database update is happening fine.
Here are the error we are receiving from the logs i checked in Logfiles, not sure if this related to the issue:
